Patience
At lunch I asked The Other Ken what happened to Marty
and his wife. “One day he’s talking about chasing her around the house, and the
next he wants a divorce,” I said. “What’s
the story?”
“Their story’s all about patience,” The Other Ken
said. “He had no interest in anything
other than painkillers for ten years. They didn’t go anywhere, they didn’t do
anything, and she paid all their bills. She patiently waited for him to get his
act together. Now he’s clean, he expects
her to meet his every need immediately.
He’s got no patience because he thinks she owes him for getting clean.”
Today I will be grateful for, and patient
with, the people who were patient with me.
