Call it a Day
By the time Marti left, the day was almost over. I hadn’t
written a line. I also hadn’t wasted a minute.
I thought about working into the evening. I wasn’t up
against a deadline, but I still thought I should have gotten more done.
“What would I say to a good friend?” I asked my laptop. “I’d
say you did the best you could. Be happy with it. Tomorrow’s another day.”
I packed up my laptop and called it a day.
Today I’ll be satisfied doing the best I can do.
