Fawlty Showers

Inspiration

The group went well. Dana listed celebrities on the white board.  All had fame and fortune.  The list included athletes, leaders, writers, and business people.

She asked the group to name the problems each had faced. The group didn’t seem to know what obstacles the celebrities had overcome. Dana listed them.

“What do you think my point is?”

A young man said, “No matter how good somebody’s life looks, it probably sucks just as much as yours.”

Dana sighed. “Well, no. The point is we focus on the success which sometimes makes us envious, maybe a little bitter.  If we focused on their struggle we might be inspired instead.”

I added, “If you knew what the person next to you struggled with, you might be inspired by how they got through the day.”

Today I’ll be inspired by other people’s struggles.
