Define
The next day Abigail was unusually quiet, even for Abigail.
I asked Dana what was going on.
“She met somebody,” Dana said. “Now there’s an argument inside
her head.”
“What argument?”
“From the time she was seven until she left for college her
crazy aunt told her she was unlovable.
Now someone is telling her different.”
“She’s struggling not to let her aunt define her,” I guessed. “She wants to believe the voice telling her she is loveable.”
Dana nodded, “Yep. Define is the right word. Not easy
sometimes, but you can’t let mean people tell you who you are.”
Today I won’t let other people define me.
